Join Iyengar Yoga teacher Meghan Goodman for a progressive series of classes on Sunday evenings. From the Ground Up is a 8-week course designed to create a strong foundation for students new to yoga while offering opportunities for those with a regular practice to deepen their understanding of the poses and how they work best in our own bodies.

Sundays, 7:30-9:00pm.

8 classes, January 7th-February 25th, $136+tax. Late registration (after December 21st, 2017) $152+tax

*Registration for the full class comes with one Bonus Class that may be used before the end of the session for any other class on the schedule that allows drop-ins or to bring a friend to class (space permitting; please enroll online before class).

Week 1: Feet, Ankles, and Knees: Learn how correct actions and alignment in the lower part of the body can help improve balance, stability, and joint health.

Week 2: Legs: Discover how the standing poses can build energy, stamina, and confidence while better understanding how to open and strengthen the legs.

Week 3: Hips: Experience the differences between internal and external rotation. Learn conditioning exercises for stability, and safe stretches that open the hip without disrupting the knees.

Week 4: Abdomen and Lower Back: Focus on strengthening the abdomen to keep your lower back healthy in yoga practice and in life.

Week 5: Upper Back and Shoulders: Experience how the use of the arms and legs can support the opening of the chest. Find strength and space in the shoulders to prepare the body for inversions.

Week 6: Mobility through movement: This class will focus on slow-paced sun salutations and the linking of postures with the breath for a warming and playful practice.

Week 7: Reverse the flow: Learn safe inversion practices for your own level of experience. Through preparations and the use of props, students will learn how to build strong foundations and find optimal alignment in order to receive the many benefits of turning upside down.

Week 8: Restoration and breathing: The final week of this session will offer a chance to work with the subtle body through gentle postures and exploration of pranayama, the art and science of the breath.

This pass is valid for any class on the schedule between the dates of January 5th-March 2nd.

This pass comes with a Bonus Class you can use to bring a friend with you to class (space permitting) before the end of the session. Email julie@oceanandcrow.ca with your friend's name, email address, and the class they'd like to take if you'd like to do that.

This pass comes with priority enrollment in two classes of your choice. Please email julie@oceanandcrow.ca after purchasing this pass to indicate which two classes you would like to be pre-enrolled in. Please note that Nicole's Yoga for Resilient Embodied Well-Being does not allow drop ins with this pass. This may be one of your two class choices, but then you must attend every week.

Meghan Goodman is an Iyengar yoga instructor, professional dance artist and mother. She began practicing yoga in 1998 and teaching in 2006, after completing a 200-hour teacher training program through Flow Yoga. Seeking more information on how to work with a wider range of students, Meghan began her studies of Iyengar yoga in 2008. With the guidance of Louie Ettling, Meghan completed the Intro 2 teaching certification in 2013, and the Intermediate Junior 1 certification in 2017. For Meghan, Iyengar yoga has become the steady path to finding stability and space in the body, the antidote to a physically demanding and busy lifestyle, and a method for moving deeper in the practice with intelligence and care.
