This class is designed for people who are looking for more mobility and freedom in their bodies in day to day life. We will learn more about ourselves by exploring the inner landscapes of the body. We will work with mindfully held postures and will also release the connective tissue and muscles through stretching and self massage with various tools including the dowel and different sized balls.

Alex has plenty of experience working with various body types and figuring out how to help whatever may be out of balance. With a short check-in at the beginning, each class will be tailored to what the students need that day. All bodies and levels are welcome.

Flow Yoga: Connect Body and Breath with Stephanie Trembath (8 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$151.20 • 8 visits •

This is a powerful flow class to get your body grooving and breathing. Stephanie will lead participants through a vinyasa sequence that focuses on opening and strengthening specific body parts to build toward a peak-pose. Intentional pranayama (breathwork), guided mantra and meditation may also be offered for students to develop their understanding and awareness of all the pieces that contribute to a nourishing yoga practice. Hands-on assists may be offered to help students feel more supported in the poses. All levels welcome.

Aligning Body, Mind, and Breath: Iyengar with Meghan Goodman (8 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$159.60 • 8 visits •

Want a great start to your weekend? Join Meghan Goodman, certified Iyengar yoga instructor, for an alignment based practice that will help you feel more centered and energized. The teaching will focus on building stable and healthy foundations. We will work on improving concentration and developing inner awareness so that the postures become a form of ‘meditation in action’, integrating the body, mind and breath. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and we will discover together how the use of yoga props can assist us to find our optimal flow of energy, to support when needed, and to move deeper into the postures safely. The specific content of the course will be tailored for the students enrolled. Students who are beginners, pregnant or are working with injuries are welcome to join us, just please make sure to get your care provider’s approval first.

Restorative Yoga: Rest, Heal, Reset with Julie (8 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$159.60 • 8 visits •

We practice being stressed often enough: we also need to practice rest. Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing form of yoga that can calm anxiety, improve digestion and immune function, and help us sleep. By supporting our bodies with props in restful positions for 5-10 minutes at a time, we practice mindful calm, a habit that can help us greatly in our day-to-day lives and encourage our internal healing capabilities. In this class, Julie provides personal attention to each person through the use of props and sometimes gentle supportive touch. Please let Julie know if you do not want to receive that attention.

This class is an excellent support for people working with injuries, chronic pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, pregnancy, and many other human conditions, as long as resting quietly in a room with other people is comfortable.

Yin and Yoga Nidra with Katie Blecker (8 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$159.60 • 8 visits •

The first part of class is dedicated to Yin yoga. In this practice we work with a functional approach to alignment as you hold passive postures for a time, with the intention to apply positive gentle stress to specific areas of the body, cultivate mindfulness, and create energetic balance within. Yin creates the container for deep stillness and inner awareness, and is an beautiful compliment an active practice or an effective way to balance life’s daily stresses.

The final part of class will focus on a restorative Savasana as you are guided through a specific, multi-layered Yoga Nidra meditation. Yoga Nidra is the art and science of deep, conscious relaxation. It is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra compares to 3-4 hours of regular sleep. No previous meditation experience is necessary to gain the many benefits of this practice!

All levels of experience are welcome.

This class is really more of a physiotherapy and self restoring style of yoga, not the kind the does fancy tricks and makes you over-bendy. We just want to have quiet bodies that don’t bother us every day and quiet minds that don’t make us more stressed than we need to be. Although it’s not a super hard class, we do core work, gently flowing through yoga postures with breath, and finish with some wonderful stretches and self massage goodness. It’s real. It’s nice. It’s for every body. It’s for every level. It’s just yoga for humans.

Yin/Yang Yoga: Move, Breathe, Stretch with Haley (8 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$159.60 • 8 visits •

Wring out the kinks in your body with intuitive, thoughtful movement. In the first part of this class, we will move through strong postures to warm and strengthen the body, and then balance out in the second part of the class with soft, relaxing, supported, long-held stretches. This class is designed to help you move stress out so that when you slow down and come towards the ground, you will be able to melt into your body fully. It’s the perfect balance of strength and surrender.

This class will include downward dog, active twists, backbends, and forward folds, as well as long-held Yin postures on the floor supported with props. All levels welcome, including beginners. Expect some hands-on support.

The Morning Practice with Alex Hughes (Summer 2019) CAD$159.60 • 8 visits •

Have you wanted a daily yoga practice at home? This class teaches the fundamental yoga practices that is best done in the morning. You will learn breath exercises, meditation, hand mudras, cleansing practices, and yoga postures that give you a full package for a home practice. It is essential to learn these practices from an experienced teacher.

From this two month course, you will get the necessary amount of practice needed to create an at home practice that is specially catered for you with recommendations and planning from the experienced teacher.

Core and Restore with Alex Hughes (9 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$179.55 • 9 visits •

This whole-body class focuses on gentle intelligent movement that can help heal, repair, and prevent common issues like shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, scoliosis, or SI joint instability. With a combination of strengthening Pilates and physiotherapy exercises along with the deep tension release of yin yoga stretches and ball rolling for myofascial release and deep tissue massage, we will work towards a stable, relaxed, pain-free, and healthy body.

This all-levels class is appropriate for beginners, those working to repair from injuries, and anyone who wants to maintain a healthy body.

Experience the power of stillness with Yin yoga and Mindfulness. Through longer held, passive Yin yoga postures you will release physical tension, establish present moment awareness, and cultivate energetic balance within. Lunar Phase Flow with Julie (10 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$199.50 • 10 visits •

In these classes, we work with the lunar phases in real time, exploring practices that reflect the cycling of the moon. Release stress, breathe deeply, build strength and flexibility, and learn how to approach postures like standing, balancing, backbends, core work, and inversions (no pressure!) alongside the theme of that day’s moon. We will move dynamically (but intentionally) with our breath, showing up to how we feel and letting go of what we don't need. This class involves some physical challenge and playful exploration, but there are always options to modify depending on what you need that day. Each class ends with a deep stretch and a satisfying rest.

Modifications will always be offered for injuries or limitations. Pregnant students comfortable in a vinyasa yoga practice are welcome.

Explore the relationship of effort and ease in this gentle Hatha yoga class. Feel Good Yoga with Julie (11 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$207.90 • 11 visits •

In this chilled-out all-levels class, we will gently stretch out our shoulders, backs, and hips, gently strengthen supportive muscles in the body, take deep breaths, slow down, and relax. The point of this class is to feel good, so we’ll sample from a range of different movement practices to ease our creaky joints and get our pep back in our step. We’ll do some standing, seated, and lying down poses with minimal weight bearing on the arms. Small class sizes ensure personal attention so if you’re working with injuries or any special concerns we will figure out how to modify so the practice works for you. Pregnant people are welcome as are brand-new beginners and anyone else who wants to take a break on a Tuesday to feel good.

Feel Good Flow: Moving Meditation with Julie (11 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$207.90 • 11 visits •

In this all-levels class, we focus on the breath as the primary source of movement in the body. We will move with our breath dynamically but gently, exploring standing postures and other shapes that we can move into and out of with the rhythm of a conscious breath. We will explore a bit of challenge, but without too much weight bearing on the hands and arms (minimal downward dog). Towards the end of class, we will make our way down to the floor for longer held hip stretches, forward folds, and time for reflection.

This class is appropriate for beginners and those working with injuries and issues that would like to move dynamically, but with a gentler intention. This flow-based class is not ideal for vertigo/dizziness. Pregnancy is fine. With limited class size and lots of personal attention for everyone who attends, this class will be tailored to the students who register.

Julie may offer some hands-on assists in this practice.

This class is designed to step into the deeper layers of your body through supportive, healing, long held postures. This is a way to calm the body, slow down the mind and access a deep softness within. As we take time to absorb each pose, we restore the body and mind, coming out feeling calmer and more at ease. Restorative Yin: Deep Rest, Gentle Stretch with Julie (11 classes, Summer 2019) CAD$219.45 • 11 visits •

Get deep into your breath and your body with this deeply relaxing Restorative Yin class. We will mix together gentle, supportive Restorative postures with some propped-up Yin postures to gently stretch the hips, the back, the neck, and the legs. This practice can help reduce pain in the body, calm anxiety, and support internal functions like digestion, hormonal balance, and immune support.

Appropriate for everyone including those working with injuries, special concerns, or pregnancy, as long as you can sit and lie down on the floor, just let Julie know before class so we can work with any modifications we may need.

This pass gives you access to everything on the schedule between June 22nd and September 6th (11 weeks). Please note that we will be closed on the long weekends in the summer.

This pass entitles you to pre-enroll in one class of your choice, ensuring your spot in that class. Email Julie at oceanandcrow@gmail.com to indicate which one you'd like.

$320+tax before June 15th, $360+tax after.

This pass is valued at slightly less than the average of two classes within a session. If purchased before June 15th, it works out to $29/week or $14.50/class if you come twice a week, $9.60/class if you come three times, and so on. It's the best option if you'd like to take more than one weekly class on the schedule (a regular session works out to $17/class for most classes, while drop in is $23).

This pass comes with one Bonus class you can use to bring a friend to class within your session.

Once you have your pass, please enroll online for whichever classes you'd like to attend using the schedule. You may do this as early as you like, especially as some classes tend to sell out.

Alex has a bright and loving energy that offers acceptance and welcome to her class. Her life experiences and trainings bring a unique and thoughtful approach to this practice. She is a certified Hatha Yoga Teacher. She is also certified to teach Pilates, Restorative Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Kids Yoga, and The Tensegrity Series. She offers various aspects of multiple styles of yoga into her classes and teachings. Her main focus of all of this work is to open up the space to live with more happiness and freedom.
