"Vinyasa" translates to "place in a specific way". This class will work on refining core movements in the torso, shoulders, and hips in order to stabilize the joints for a strong, healthy body that can flow with resilience and without pain. All levels welcome.

This practice is not ideal for pregnancy, but can be helpful for post-partum folks without major diastasis recti (split in the abdominal muscles) who have been given the go-ahead by their physician. It's also great for anyone looking to add strength and sustainability to their practice without current acute injuries.

This class is really more of a physiotherapy and self restoring style of yoga, not the kind that does fancy tricks and makes you over-bendy. We just want to have quiet bodies that don’t bother us every day and quiet minds that don’t make us more stressed than we need to be. Although it’s not a super hard class, we do core work, gently flowing through yoga postures with breath, and finish with some wonderful stretches and self massage goodness. It’s real. It’s nice. In this chilled-out all-levels class, we will stretch out our shoulders, backs, and hips, gently strengthen supportive muscles in the body, take deep breaths, slow down, and relax. The point of this class is to feel good, so we’ll sample from a range of different movement practices to ease our creaky joints and get our pep back in our step. We’ll do some standing, seated, and lying down poses with minimal weight bearing on the arms. Small class sizes ensure personal attention so if you’re working with injuries or any special concerns we will figure out how to modify so the practice works for you. Pregnant people are welcome as are brand-new beginners and anyone else who wants to take a break on a Tuesday to feel good.

Feel Good Flow: Moving Meditation with Julie (7 classes, Nov-Dec 2019) CAD$117.60 • 7 visits •

In this all-levels flow class, we focus on the breath as the primary source of movement in the body. We will move with our breath dynamically but gently, exploring a range of yoga postures with options and modifications throughout. We will explore a bit of challenge, but without too much weight bearing on the hands and arms (minimal downward dog). Towards the end of class, we will make our way down to the floor for longer held hip stretches, forward folds, and time for reflection.

This class is appropriate for beginners and those working with injuries and issues that would like to get moving, but with a gentler intention. Pregnant people welcome with the OK from their care provider. Julie may offer some hands-on assists in this practice.

Yin/Yang Yoga: Move, Breathe, Stretch with Haley (7 classes, Nov-Dec 2019) CAD$124.95 • 7 visits •

Wring out the kinks in your body with intuitive, thoughtful movement. In the first part of this class, we will move through strong postures to warm and strengthen the body, and then balance out in the second part of the class with soft, relaxing, supported, long-held stretches. This class is designed to help you move stress out so that when you slow down and come towards the ground, you will be able to melt into your body fully. It’s the perfect balance of strength and surrender.

This class will include downward dog, active twists, backbends, and forward folds, as well as long-held Yin postures on the floor supported with props. All levels welcome, including beginners. Expect some hands-on support.

Lunar Phase Flow with Julie (7 classes, Nov-Dec 2019) CAD$124.95 • 7 visits •

In these classes, we work with the lunar phases in real time, exploring practices that reflect the cycling of the moon. Release stress, breathe deeply, build strength and flexibility, and learn how to approach postures like standing, balancing, backbends, core work, and inversions (no pressure!) alongside the theme of that day’s moon. We will move dynamically (but intentionally) with our breath, showing up to how we feel and letting go of what we don't need. This class involves some physical challenge and playful exploration, but there are always options to modify depending on what you need that day. Each class ends with a deep stretch and a satisfying rest.

Modifications will always be offered for injuries or limitations. Pregnant students comfortable in a vinyasa yoga practice are welcome.

Get deep into your breath and your body with this deeply relaxing Restorative Yin class. We will mix together gentle, supportive Restorative postures with some propped-up Yin postures to gently stretch the hips, the back, the neck, and the legs. This whole-body class focuses on gentle intelligent movement that can help heal, repair, and prevent common issues like shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, scoliosis, or SI joint instability. Want a great start to your weekend? Join Meghan Goodman, certified Iyengar yoga instructor, for an alignment based practice that will help you feel more centered and energized. The teaching will focus on building stable and healthy foundations. Restorative Yoga: Rest, Heal, Reset with Julie and Katie (8 classes, Nov-Dec 2019) CAD$142.80 • 8 visits •

We practice being stressed often enough: we also need to practice rest. Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing form of yoga that can calm anxiety, improve digestion and immune function, and help us sleep. By supporting our bodies with props in restful positions for 5-10 minutes at a time, we practice mindful calm, a habit that can help us greatly in our day-to-day lives and encourage our internal healing capabilities. In this class, Julie provides personal attention to each person through the use of props and sometimes gentle supportive touch. Please let Julie know if you do not want to receive that attention.

This class is an excellent support for people working with injuries, chronic pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, pregnancy, and many other human conditions, as long as resting quietly in a room with other people is comfortable.

Yin Yoga: Stretch, Breathe, and Release with Nicole LeClair (8 classes, Nov-Dec 2019) CAD$142.80 • 8 visits •

Experience gentle healing with a nourishing breath and guided meditation practice. Expect to rest in long held postures that target myofascial release in the neck, shoulders, hips, spine and feet to release physical and mental tension. We will compliment the yin postures by opening class with self-massage practices such as rolling on a ball or dowel to create more space in the body and facilitate a deeper stretch. This class will use many props, blankets and sandbags to facilitate deep restoration and rebalance the nervous system. By targeting connective tissue and the nervous system, this practice can help reduce pain, soothe the anxious mind, reset the digestive system, and support the endocrine and immune systems. This class is accessible for everyone, including those working with injuries and limited joint mobility. You don't need to be flexible to benefit from the class, you just need to breathe!

This pass is valued at slightly less than the average of two classes within a session. If purchased before October 26th, it works out to $32/week or $16/class if you come twice a week, $10.66/class if you come three times, and so on. It's the best option if you'd like to take more than one weekly class on the schedule (a regular session works out to $17/class for most classes, while drop in is $23).

This pass comes with one Bonus class you can use to bring a friend to class within your session.

Katie Blecker, RYT-550, offers yoga and meditation as accessible tools for cultivating connection, embodiment, and ease in everyday life. In working personally with multiple injuries and illness, Katie has experienced firsthand how physical yoga postures and movement practices can either help or hinder certain conditions, depending on the approach. Through trial and error, study, and working with diverse populations, she has developed an exploratory and mindful approach to yoga that prioritizes personal agency, curiosity, and self-awareness.

Katie facilitates practices of yin, hatha, restorative, chair yoga, and meditation. Her classes generally include lots of props, options and variations, and a sustainable approach to physical practice. Katie offers group classes and private 1:1 sessions.
