In these classes
we will focus on flowing through creative movement and connecting to
slow deep breathing in order to release stress and rejuvenate the body.
This creative flow will invite you to get playful as we explore a
variety of postures that safely build strength and flexibility like
standing, balancing, backbends, and core work with opportunities to play
with arm balances and inversions (no pressure!). Though the postures
are dynamic, we will move slow and rhythmically with the breath to get
out of our heads and find a deeper connection to our body and the
present moment. This class invites you
to get playful with opportunities to challenge yourself physically
before sinking into a slow, rejuvenating cool down to calm the nervous
system, the body, and the mind. This class includes lots of options to modify depending on what you need that day.
This class is online, so check with your health practitioner before you start class to ensure it's safe for you to do so. Do not push yourself or do anything that causes pain. You will be able to ask your teacher questions and let them know about injuries before class.
*Register at least 1 hour before class in order to get the link to the Zoom studio. You will be deducted a visit if you cancel less than an hour before class.
Melanie was originally drawn to yoga for the physical benefits, but quickly felt a deep connection to the mental, emotional and spiritual dimensions of the practice. Her classes are inspired by different yogic techniques and traditions throughout the world, and she has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach and learn throughout Canada, Australia, and India. Her classes focus on flowing through creative movement with breath, to find a deeper connection to our bodies and the present moment. She approaches yoga light-heartedly, encouraging students to explore aspects of mindfulness and yogic philosophy in a playful and relatable manner.
