*Complimentary Sample: Virtual Replenishing Yin with Ashley Jestin Free

In this deeply nourishing all-levels yin class, we will release tension of all kinds: bodily, mental, and even emotional, if that feels safe and workable for you. The practice will consist of a handful of deep stretches done on the floor, held for several minutes at a time. The yin practice is all about yielding to gravity and as such the majority of postures require little to no muscular effort. This means that you are invited to join us, even, and especially, if you’re tired. Options, modifications, and variations of postures will be offered so that a safe shape is available for every body, even for students that may have injuries or students that are pregnant. This a full body yin: we will release through the back, front of the chest, hips, hamstrings, and even massage the organs with some reclined twists. Meditative themes or contemplations will be offered but all teachings, physical and otherwise, are given in trauma-sensitive and invitational language. The class is designed as an invitation to draw inward, to slow down, and to be replenished by breath and the act of getting quiet within yourself.

This class is online, so check with your health practitioner before you start class to ensure it's safe for you to do so. Do not push yourself or do anything that causes pain. You will be able to ask your teacher questions and let them know about injuries before class.

This is a complimentary sample of a new class on our schedule that will be offered on Mondays at 4:30pm.

*Complimentary Sample: Virtual Earth Flow with Ashley Jestin Free

In this all-levels, heat-building flow class, we will combine some static holds in standing, seated, and lying down poses with more dynamic one breath per movement sequences. The practice will begin with a nourishing meditation and warm-up sequence followed by pauses in each shape that we will later move through more quickly, so you will have a strong foundation for where we are going together. Options will be offered for less or more intensity, and all teachings are invitational so you are able to personalize your practice to serve you best. We will get the heart beating and strengthen the body but this will be well-balanced by a few yin-like holds as we cool down and release key parts of the body that often hold tension. You can expect breath focus and meditative themes to be woven into class and to leave feeling calm and energized.

This class is online, so check with your health practitioner before you start class to ensure it's safe for you to do so. Do not push yourself or do anything that causes pain. You will be able to ask your teacher questions and let them know about injuries before class.

Virtual Replenishing Yin with Ashley Jestin CAD$18.90 per classFrom CAD$1 per visit with Virtual Classroom: Unlimited Access Pass (Live Only) ZOOM STUDIO passPurchase required to enroll

Seasonal Self-Care: Holiday Restorative & Yoga Nidra Workshop with Katie Blecker (Nov 23rd) CAD$52.50Purchase required to enroll

The holidays can be a time of added pressure and stress, and it can be easy to forget the importance of taking good care of ourselves at this time of year. Join Katie for a nourishing and restful extended practice where you will indulge in some extra-supportive restorative yoga, followed by a full length yoga nidra meditation. This class will offer a place of refuge during this hectic, and often emotionally challenging time of year.

This workshop is open to all levels and anyone who is comfortable with laying on the floor (with the support of lots of props, of course!) Space is limited to 10 participants so that each person has access to a plentiful amount of props and guidance in setting things up ‘just right’ to cultivate space to rest deeply. The first hour or so will be dedicated to restorative yoga and then we’ll move into an extended Savasana for the yoga nidra practice.

Yoga Nidra is a heart-centered form of guided meditation. While you lay down comfortably, you will be guided through a particular multi-layered process that gradually allows your body to find a state of sleep while your mind remains present, yet focused deeply on witnessing your inner experience. Through this internal journey you might begin to release old patterns, thoughts, or behaviours that are no longer serving your highest good, which can create space for deep transformation and connection to who you are. Many practitioners also report feelings of relaxation, rejuvenation, and nourishment after experiencing the state of yoga nidra. It’s often said that an hour or less of yoga nidra compares physiologically to 3-4 hours of actual sleep.

Saturday, November 23rd, 2-4pm, $45+tax before November 17th, $50+tax after.

Through trial and error, study, and working with diverse populations, she has developed an exploratory and mindful approach to yoga that prioritizes personal agency, curiosity, and self-awareness. Katie facilitates practices of yin, hatha, restorative, chair yoga, and meditation. Her classes generally include lots of props, options and variations, and a sustainable approach to physical practice. Katie offers group classes and private 1:1 sessions. Intentional Rest: Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra with Katie Blecker (Feb 15th 2020) CAD$52.50Purchase required to enroll

Discover the healing power of conscious rest through the combined practices of restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Join Katie for a nourishing and restful extended class where you will indulge in some extra-supportive restorative yoga, followed by a full length yoga nidra meditation. This class will offer space to relax, unwind, and practice gentle self-care.

This two hour practice is open to all levels of experience and anyone who is comfortable with lying on the floor (with the support of lots of props, of course!) Space is limited to 10 participants so that each person has access to plentiful props and guidance in setting things up ‘just right’ to cultivate space to rest deeply. The first hour or so will be dedicated to some restorative postures and then we’ll move into an extended Savasana for the yoga nidra practice.

Yoga nidra is a heart-centered form of guided meditation, often referred to as the state of yogic sleep. It’s said that an hour or less of yoga nidra compares physiologically to 3-4 hours of actual sleep.

Saturday, Feb 15th, 2:00-4:00pm. $45+tax before Feb 8th, $50+tax after.

Please note this workshop will also be offered on March 21st and April 18th. See https://www.oceanandcrow.ca/workshops/ for future dates.

Katie Blecker has over 650 hours of training and offers yoga and meditation as practices for cultivating connection, embodiment, and ease in everyday life. She recognizes that yoga nidra is very nuanced and requires a great deal of care and responsibility from the individual guiding the practice. In all of Katie’s offerings, her primary focus is on creating safer spaces for people to explore their relationships to their bodies, minds, and hearts. You will find that her classes contain plenty of opportunities for choice-making, invitational language, and an emphasis on mindfulness.

Intentional Rest: Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra with Katie Blecker (March 21st 2020) CAD$52.50Purchase required to enroll

Feeling stressed, tired, or in need of some powerful self-care? Discover the healing power of conscious rest through the combined practices of restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Restorative yoga postures gently guide the body and mind into a state of comfort and relaxation, setting the stage for a deeply restful, therapeutic guided meditation practice called yoga nidra. In this way, we gradually prepare the body and mind for an experience of quiet and ease, which allows our systems to rest, replenish, and invite healing on many levels.

This two hour experience is open to all levels of practice (including true beginners) and anyone who is comfortable with lying on the floor with the support of props. Space is limited to 10 participants so that each person has access to plentiful props and guidance in setting things up ‘just right’ for cultivating deep rest. The first hour or so will be dedicated to a few restorative postures and then we’ll move into the guided meditation journey.

Yoga nidra is the art and science of yogic sleep. You’ll be guided through a systematic series of instructions that gradually move your awareness inward. While your body experiences the physiological effects of sleep, your mind settles into a place of inner awareness. You’ll be guided through how to work with a sankalpa (your heart’s deepest intention) which is a personal statement about something meaningful that you wish to call forth in your life. For some, the state of yoga nidra is a profound and introspective place. For others, it’s a chance to receive the physical benefits of true rest and relaxation. It’s commonly said that an hour or less of yoga nidra compares to 3-4 hours of actual deep sleep.

Spirituality for Real Life: A 5 Week Course on Intuition and Energy Practice with Jacqui Willcocks CAD$136.50Purchase required to enroll

Join Master healer, Reiki practioner, and energy worker Jacqui Willcocks in a 5 week course that will give your spirit a place to land and practical tools to help you find your own way to work with intuition and energy healing in your own life. Whether or not we have a religious faith, spirituality is a part of all of us. Through an experience of illness, upheaval, or even profound joy, we can be left with the sense that there is something bigger than us, a force beyond what the mind can understand and yet are at a loss of how to integrate this into our everyday lives. We may feel called to inner healing work through yoga, energy work, or other somatic practices, or we may simply crave a deeper understanding of intuition but don’t have the steps to get there. We will explore meditation, journaling, and collective energy healing practices to connect with our spirit, our ancestors, and true healing for our real lives. Together, we will create a protective container to delve deeply into the empowering ways we can understand and support ourselves spiritually--and have some fun doing it!

This course will be offered via Zoom. All you need is a place to connect to the online meeting and participate from there. Download the free Zoom app at https://zoom.us/download
