In each of these weekly classes, we will take on a theme or idea, often from yoga philosophy or mythology, for contemplation and then move it through our bodies and with our breath. In this session, we will work with the lunar phases in real time, working with practices that reflect the cycling of the moon. Release stress, breathe deeply, build strength and flexibility, and learn how to approach postures like standing, balancing, backbends, core work, and inversions (no pressure!). We will move dynamically (but intentionally) with our breath, showing up to how we feel and letting go of what we don't need. This class involves some physical challenge, but there are always options to modify depending on what you need that day. Each class ends with a deep stretch and a satisfying rest.

All levels are welcome. Modifications will always be offered for injuries or limitations. Pregnant students comfortable in a yoga practice are welcome.

We practice being stressed often enough: we also need to practice rest. Restorative yoga is a deeply relaxing form of yoga that can calm anxiety, improve digestion and immune function, and help us sleep. By supporting our bodies with props in restful positions for 5-10 minutes at a time, we practice mindful calm, a habit that can help us greatly in our day-to-day lives. We will also include mindfulness meditations and other practices that we can apply to our practice and continue to use in our day-to-day lives. In this playful class, learn at your own pace. Alex has a 3 step process that gives you options for finding more challenge or more ease, depending on what you need that day. Expect a creative, easeful, and delightful flow connected with breath, which has the capacity to cleanse the body and mind. You will also get in a good stretch and/or self massage using various props. Breathing techniques will help us connect and calm the mind, while gentle core work, shoulder release techniques, and other postures will help us support a healthier, happier body. Come in to reduce your stress, re-balance the whole body, and leave with a happier body and a calmer mind. All levels are welcome.

It's not only a pleasurable experience, it will also help you get out of the house and get moving again.This class involves gentle movement, core work, a bit of restorative relaxation, and a bit of kids yoga to keep the babes entertained and give you a chance to rest. This class is designed to step into the deeper layers of your body through supportive, healing, long held postures. This is a way to calm the body, slow down the mind and access a deep softness within. As we take time to absorb each pose, we restore the body and mind, coming out feeling calmer and more at ease. This class will be assisted through hands on touch to support a deeper level of experience. All levels welcome.

Get deep into your breath and your body with this deeply relaxing Restorative Yin class. We will mix together gentle, supportive Restorative postures and with some propped-up Yin postures to gently stretch the hips, the back, and the legs. This practice can help reduce pain in the body, calm anxiety, and support internal functions like digestion, hormonal balance, and immune support. In order to ensure everyone has access to props and personal attention as needed, we are limiting the class to 10 people.

Appropriate for everyone as long as you can sit and lie down on the floor, including those working with injuries, special concerns, or pregnancy, just let Julie know before class so we can work with any modifications we may need.

This whole-body class focuses on gentle intelligent movement that can help heal, repair, and prevent common issues like shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, scoliosis, or SI joint instability. With a combination of strengthening Pilates and physiotherapy exercises along with the deep tension release of yin yoga stretches and ball rolling for myofascial release and deep tissue massage, we will work towards a stable, relaxed, pain-free, and healthy body.

This all-levels class is appropriate for beginners, those working to repair from injuries, and anyone who wants to maintain a healthy body.

Do you want to start your day off right? Join Meghan Goodman, certified Iyengar yoga instructor, for an alignment based practice that will help you feel more centered and energized for your day. The teaching will focus on building stable and healthy foundations. We will work on improving concentration and developing inner awareness so that the postures become a form of 'meditation in action', integrating the body, mind and breath. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and we will discover together how the use of yoga props can assist us to find our bodies optimal flow of energy, to offer support when needed, and to move deeper in the postures without creating stress or tension. The specific content of the course will be tailored for the students enrolled; ie. where they are at in their practice, and what their goals and yoga curiosities are.

Week 1: Feet, Ankles, and Knees: Learn how correct actions and alignment in the lower part of the body can help improve balance, stability, and joint health.

Week 2: Legs: Discover how the standing poses can build energy, stamina, and confidence while better understanding how to open and strengthen the legs.

Week 3: Hips: Experience the differences between internal and external rotation. Learn conditioning exercises for stability, and safe stretches that open the hip without disrupting the knees.

Week 4: Abdomen and Lower Back: Focus on strengthening the abdomen to keep your lower back healthy in yoga practice and in life.

Week 5: Upper Back and Shoulders: Experience how the use of the arms and legs can support the opening of the chest. Find strength and space in the shoulders to prepare the body for inversions.

Week 6: Mobility through movement: This class will focus on slow-paced sun salutations and the linking of postures with the breath for a warming and playful practice.

Week 7: Reverse the flow: Learn safe inversion practices for your own level of experience. Through preparations and the use of props, students will learn how to build strong foundations and find optimal alignment in order to receive the many benefits of turning upside down.

Week 8: Restoration and breathing: The final week of this session will offer a chance to work with the subtle body through gentle postures and exploration of pranayama, the art and science of the breath.

This practice will increase strength in the body while offering a pause for the mind as we focus with purpose and direction on our breath. Each week we will explore a sequence leading up to a challenge pose such as a backbend or arm balance where you’ll be encouraged (but never pressured!) to try with plenty of space to fall. Most of all, we’ll move and groove with chill soulful beats to flow to. Let the music and the vibrations of your breath guide you through this mindful slow dance with the breath.

This class will include weight bearing on the hands, twists, backbends, forward folds, and possibly gentle inversions. Expect some hands-on support. Beginners are welcome in this all-levels class.

It’s the perfect balance of strength and surrender.

In this accessible Flow class, we will move with our breath through a range of yoga postures in order to build strength and flexibility while slowing down our busy minds. In each class we will work with a theme or idea, and take time out for meditation, drawing, or journaling in order to reflect on that theme with our minds and our bodies. We’ll move dynamically with our breath and possibly explore some challenging postures, but modifications will always be given so you have choices in terms of how far you want to go in the class. We will also take time out to be in stillness, rest and relax so we can hit pause on whatever’s going on in your day.

This is an appropriate Flow class for all levels. Pregnant students are welcome if they already have a yoga practice.

This whole-body class focuses on gentle intelligent movement that can help heal, repair, and prevent common issues like shoulder and neck pain, lower back pain, scoliosis, or SI joint instability. With a combination of strengthening Pilates and physiotherapy exercises along with the deep tension release of yin yoga stretches and ball rolling for myofascial release and deep tissue massage, we will work towards a stable, relaxed, pain-free, and healthy body.

Do you want to start your day off right? Join Meghan Goodman, certified Iyengar yoga instructor, for an alignment based practice that will help you feel more centered and energized for your day. We will work on improving concentration and developing inner awareness so that the postures become a form of 'meditation in action', integrating the body, mind and breath. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and we will discover together how the use of yoga props can assist us to find our bodies optimal flow of energy, to offer support when needed, and to move deeper in the postures without creating stress or tension. This intimate and intensive training is offered once a year in Vancouver and is a synthesis of Nicole’s frontline experience as a Yoga Therapist in the field of concurrent disorders and a culmination of her on-going personal and professional immersion and education in trauma informed Yoga over the past 8 years.

This training is for anyone who wants to understand more about their own traumatic experience and healing journey and anyone who wants to know more about how to support others in theirs. Research supports the benefits of Yoga as an effective compliment to other traditional therapies in the stabilization and healing of individuals struggling with the aftermath of acute or chronic, prolonged exposure to trauma. By supporting and enhancing the efficacy of other therapeutic interventions, Yoga can contribute to an individual’s long term stability and recovery. Yoga and healthcare professionals can learn to utilize Yoga with groups and individuals in order to safely support them in developing a sense of
agency, safe embodiment and to provide them with tools for self-regulation. Upon completion of this training, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the underpinnings and application of trauma informed Yoga theories and techniques to support survivors in their healing. The pelvic floor is a part of our bodies that can be a bit elusive. We all have one, and mostly don't really think about it....... until we have to think about it. Like when it gets injured in childbirth, or when we experience incontinence, pelvic pain, or lower back issues that won't go away. Sound familiar?

There are so many factors that can lead us to a disjointed relationship with this integral part of our core. In this workshop we demystify the pelvic floor to gain more understanding. We'll be breaking it down and analyzing it in all its beautiful detail, and then exploring movement patterns in the pelvic area and the rest of the body so we can bring the the whole system into a balanced synergetic relationship, helping our pelvic floors work better in our day-to-day lives.

Immerse yourself in the world of touch for a weekend!

Learn the fundamentals of touch with an ethical and anatomical approach. We will explore techniques to relax and soften the body in different yoga poses through therapeutic massage, develop skills to look at the body and skillfully adjust from an understanding of how the body functions while learning best how to support your body in the process. Find your unique style of touch while diving into the ethical world of bodies, consent and the power of hands on connection.
