Together, in this powerful vinyasa flow class, students will explore themes of strengthening and opening the body, mind and heart. We will move through sequences that break down different shapes including backbends, inversions, forward folds, or arm balances while staying close to the breath.

Each class will begin with some conversation, guided meditation, and/or pranayama, touching on real-life struggles that occur on our insides. These are the themes we will use to lean into what we feel without judgment or expectation, to breathe through resistance and ground into the present. Music, a little light-hearted humour and some hands-on assists will be offered to balance out the energy in the room with a little fun. This class may be challenging, but options and modifications will be offered for all levels. Pregnant people welcome with a pre-established Vinyasa practice.

Immerse yourself in the world of touch for a weekend!

Learn the fundamentals of touch with an ethical and anatomical approach. Seasonal Self-Care: Holiday Restorative & Yoga Nidra Workshop with Katie Blecker (Nov 23rd) CAD$52.50Purchase required to enroll

The holidays can be a time of added pressure and stress, and it can be easy to forget the importance of taking good care of ourselves at this time of year. Join Katie for a nourishing and restful extended practice where you will indulge in some extra-supportive restorative yoga, followed by a full length yoga nidra meditation. This class will offer a place of refuge during this hectic, and often emotionally challenging time of year.

This workshop is open to all levels and anyone who is comfortable with laying on the floor (with the support of lots of props, of course!) Space is limited to 10 participants so that each person has access to a plentiful amount of props and guidance in setting things up ‘just right’ to cultivate space to rest deeply. The first hour or so will be dedicated to restorative yoga and then we’ll move into an extended Savasana for the yoga nidra practice.

Yoga Nidra is a heart-centered form of guided meditation. While you lay down comfortably, you will be guided through a particular multi-layered process that gradually allows your body to find a state of sleep while your mind remains present, yet focused deeply on witnessing your inner experience. Through this internal journey you might begin to release old patterns, thoughts, or behaviours that are no longer serving your highest good, which can create space for deep transformation and connection to who you are. Many practitioners also report feelings of relaxation, rejuvenation, and nourishment after experiencing the state of yoga nidra. It’s often said that an hour or less of yoga nidra compares physiologically to 3-4 hours of actual sleep.

Saturday, November 23rd, 2-4pm, $45+tax before November 17th, $50+tax after.

*Please note we are also offering this workshop on Saturday, Dec 28th, 2-4pm: https://oceanandcrow.pike13.com/courses/219091

Katie Blecker, RYT-550, offers yoga and meditation as accessible tools for cultivating connection, embodiment, and ease in everyday life. In working personally with multiple injuries and illness, Katie has experienced firsthand how physical yoga postures and movement practices can either help or hinder certain conditions, depending on the approach. Through trial and error, study, and working with diverse populations, she has developed an exploratory and mindful approach to yoga that prioritizes personal agency, curiosity, and self-awareness. Katie facilitates practices of yin, hatha, restorative, chair yoga, and meditation. Her classes generally include lots of props, options and variations, and a sustainable approach to physical practice. Katie offers group classes and private 1:1 sessions.
