Kundalini Chakra Flow with Sasha Smith (7 classes, Jan-Feb 2019)

This class will focus on a different chakra (energy center) each week starting from the base of spine to crown of head. We will use elements of Kundalini yoga such as kriyas (repetitive movements involving breath and focus) and some mantra (chanting) plus fun, flowing sequences from Vinyasa Flow yoga involving standing poses and some weight-bearing on the hands (such as Downward Dog). Class will begin with a short visualization meditation followed by a kriya and move into a vinyasa-flow style practice sequenced to unlock that particular chakra. Expect some challenge and to work up a bit of a sweat, but the class is open to all levels. You’ll leave energized and relaxed! Pregnant people welcome but some modifications will be offered, so let Sasha know if you are expecting.

Sasha has been teaching yoga for over a decade. She loves to share her practice with the yogis of East Van! Her most influential vinyasa sequencing teachers are Julie Peters (Ocean & Crow) and Maria Garre (Prana Flow). She has also studied Kundalini in Vancouver and Mantra/kirtan with Bhagavan Das (author of It's Here Now, Are You?). Most recently she has been studying Thai Massage and Vipassana meditation.
