Yin Yoga: Stretch, Breathe, and Release with Nicole LeClair (8 classes, Nov-Dec 2019)

Experience gentle healing with a nourishing breath and guided meditation practice. Expect to rest in long held postures that target myofascial release in the neck, shoulders, hips, spine and feet to release physical and mental tension. We will compliment the yin postures by opening class with self-massage practices such as rolling on a ball or dowel to create more space in the body and facilitate a deeper stretch. This class will use many props, blankets and sandbags to facilitate deep restoration and rebalance the nervous system. By targeting connective tissue and the nervous system, this practice can help reduce pain, soothe the anxious mind, reset the digestive system, and support the endocrine and immune systems. This class is accessible for everyone, including those working with injuries and limited joint mobility. You don't need to be flexible to benefit from the class, you just need to breathe!

*Registration for the full class comes with one Bonus Class that may be used before the end of the session for any other class on the schedule that allows drop-ins or to bring a friend to class (space permitting; please enroll online before class). You may make up two missed classes within your session (space permitting).

Nicole’s background in Kinesiology informs her emphasis on alignment, accessibility and injury prevention. Her yoga studies began in Deep Meditation with Nathalie Keiller, then she studied Yin Yoga with Jolene Bayda and Therapeutic Restorative Yoga with Tianne Allen. Nicole also prioritizes the body’s need for dynamic movement; she studied wave theory with Clara Roberts-Oss. Trained in many styles of dance and theatre, she combines creative movement with the wisdom of yoga and mindfulness. Her classes focus on meditation and breath as a tool to release the body’s habitual stress patterns. Nicole encourages developing the awareness to your own unique body’s needs and honoring them. Her teachings aim to heal the body and mind. You will leave her classes feeling restored and refreshed.
